Blue skies, green fields and clear waters await us for a fantastic week in the Land of Apulia. This trip by Back & Forth will be a taste of what this beautiful region has to offer. The itinerary winds between the Itria Valley, the Land of Gravine and the Murgia Materana.
We will start our itinerary from Mottola, where we will approach the culinary tradition of the Region by putting our hands on pasta first, and tasting it afterwards.
The next day we will head to Matera, the City of Sassi.
We will be amazed by the beauty of this urban settlement entirely carved into the rock and we will stay here to enjoy a beautiful sunset, perhaps with a glass of wine and a chat before going back.
The next day will be about relaxation and we will head to Taranto.
From here we will take the boat to reach St. Peter's Island where we will rest and enjoy the sandy beaches. In the late afternoon we will return to the mainland, strolling in Taranto and heading towards a nice restaurant where we could taste fish dishes.
From the fourth day onwards we will focus on the Itria Valley.
The first destination will be Alberobello, a stone jewel of Apulia.
We will get lost in its narrow streets and among its trulli (old houses), then in the late afternoon we will head to Locorotondo, very famous for its beautiful historic centre and its panorama.
The next morning we will go to Ostuni, the beautiful White City.
We will spend most of our time wandering and admiring its historic centre but we will finish our day visiting Cisternino, famous for its culinary tradition based on meat: bombette, fegatini and sausages are dishes not to be missed.
Our last day will be again marked with sea.
We will go to Polignano a Mare, there, we will be enchanted by its sea caves which we will visit aboard a boat and, after a dip in the blue sea, we will refresh our taste buds enjoying a good octopus sandwich.
On the way back we will stop in the lively Monopoli, spending the evening here before going back to our accommodation.
